CAPTLOBO couldn’t be more right. The difference in weight for people is negligible. If you want an extra 50 cents I’ll spot you before we get on the flight. I’m also around 6’3” and I weigh 210 but the only way that I could lose weight would be to stop working out and just lose muscle. I believe what you guys want to do is called discrimination.

But if we do somehow implement this all the overweight people should have to sit in the back of the plane too…

If fatty pays more for the seat due to there mass, they are entitled to more volume as well. i.e. a wider seat with more leg room and more overhead storage.

Euh, I’m over 6′ tall. There’s no fat on me, but I still weigh over 200 pounds. Does that mean I’ll have to be an anorexic to pay for my ticket?

BTW, the weight story of airline companies is bull. A typical large airliner weighs 800000 pounds plus. It carries 70000 pounds of fuel (about 10000 gallons). So if we all lose 40 pounds even the fullest plane would only win 20% of its fuel weight, less than 2% of the full weight. So a fair surcharge would have to very minor.

Perhaps there should be a price reduction for common sense…

that’s some good work there lou. This has been thought of many times, but it is too controversial, and the airlines would end up losing money. Too many people are sensitive about their weight and would refuse to stand on a scale when they get a ticket. They’d rather just not fly, less flights = ticket prices rise.

Since the cost of the plane to fly is based upon the weight of everything on the plane the cost per pound should be calculated on that basis. Then charge all people by the weight they bring on the plane, fully dressed, luggage, laptops, pocket books, babies etc. You bring it on you must weigh before receiving a bording pass and ante up the “real” cost not what you got on the Internet. You could use the Internet to secure your ticket but with the “agreement” that you must pay the full fare before bording.
